SEASON OF SOPHISTICATION

I love this warmer weather. I spent a weekend working through my spring/summer closet and shut the door on my winter wardrobe as we transition into a new season. With flowers blooming, the bees are buzzing and so am I with what I am seeing come down the runway – comfortable style.

Post-Cup Week, I am looking to lay low until the next round of festive events pops up. As an American, we celebrate a season of Thanksgiving, and I always take the time with family and loved ones to break bread in total gratitude of this time of year.

A diary full of events and people to celebrate them with is a blessing in my book. With all of that coming up in the next few weeks, one would be lucky to have a Working Style jacket (above) that moves with you seamlessly from day to night. Easy style transition for working women like me is essential. A very wise and stylish woman once told me “Just because it fits you, doesn’t mean that it fits the occasion”. We all have style ideas in our heads, but sophistication should reign supreme.

This month’s Couture section is full of true wearability for whatever the place or party. I have also included inspirational and usable gifts for the entire whānau which I define as those thoughtful things that can be given and will actually be worn by the recipient – or maybe you deserve to gift yourself. Such offerings include linen by Perriam (for the little ones), basic Birkenstocks, a pop of colour from Fashion Society, and some starry sparklers from Youngs Jewellers which are perfect for celebrating the season.

I look forward to a new year and more chances to shop for additions to the wardrobe.

Tip: Look out for those post-Christmas sales and never be afraid to buy off-season. The culmination of a careful wardrobe must transcend the seasons. Shop smart and shop local.
