A riverside gem

Miro has become something of a Christchurch institution. Set on the steps of the iconic apricot-hued Renaissance Palazzo on Oxford Terrace, this Michelin Guide Selected restaurant is beloved for its idyllic setting, beautiful food, and distinctly warm hospitality.

Open seven days a week, Miro is the perfect spot to ease into the morning with an espresso and breakfast, with brunch bundles available from Friday to Sunday. As the day unfolds, the summer sun lingers over the Avon River, setting the scene for long lunches and leisurely afternoons.

And with Michelin recognition under its belt and a new Sheraton Hotel opening nearby, the Miro team is excited to see Christchurch blooming.

On 27 November, Miro will dip its toes into evening dining with a one-night-only à la carte service, ahead of launching a regular evening offering in early 2027.

The building itself is reason enough to book a table. With its open fireplaces, intimate dining room, and personable service, dining at Miro has always felt a little like being welcomed into someone’s beautiful home.

Expect thoughtful food, exceptional service, and a considered atmosphere, whether stopping by for a casual drink and a few plates or settling in for a full evening around the table.

Restaurant manager Mikhail Karpechenko, affectionately known as Misha, has joined the team to help usher in this next chapter. His commitment to thoughtful, quality hospitality is clear from the outset.

“Hospitality comes first,” he says.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, Misha’s focus is on building on what already works, ensuring the same warmth, care, and attention to detail carry seamlessly from daytime dining into the evening.

On Monday 21 December, Christmas by Miro will bring all your festive favourites together in a generous, family-style celebration, complete with Telmont Champagne on arrival, for $149 per person.
